This is not Singapore/Malaysian food. Bland tasteless facsimiles of the real thing. Go to Hawkers Delight on Main Street for much better and cheaper Malaysian food.
Their haianese chicken dish is amazing and it's probably the only dish we really liked. We also ordered the roti canai but the curry was served cold and also kind of bland. Laksa curry with vermicelli noodles were ok but not the best either. Beef brisket was decent but maybe their curries are just kind of lacking flavor overall. They taste more like the boxed Japanese curries and not enough spices in their curry
Great place, service and Hainanese Chicken! If there was one thing to go for it would be that. Make sure you call ahead and "reserve" your chicken. Yeah, I know it sounds funny. When the lady on the phone asked us that, I'm like what?? Enjoy!
Best Hainan chicken in town! Can't say more 😁😁😁
Love the hainanese chicken with oil rice, it's a must everytime I visit.
Located in West King Edward Mall, this cafe will offer you one of the best Hainanese chicken in town. The half portion comes with three bowls of oil rice, good and hot soup and the two dippings..my favorite ginger oil and the sweet chili vinegar. The baby bak choy was fresh and perfectly done. So full that the two satays..chicken and beef was more than enough for the dinner.I will come back.
Delicious Hainanese chicken! Make sure you only order that
Great choice for hainanese or lahksa
Their hainanese chicken is very tasty. We ordered a whole chicken and split half the chicken to eat in the restaurant and half to bring home (additional $1.50 for doing that). It's reasonable if you add up the additional sauces and Togo boxes they provide.
Food is great, price is reasonable, no deco, just enjoy your dishes.
Famous for their boneless hainan chicken. Must try.
Nice to have cuisine that isn't very well-represented in Vancouver. I had the laksa, which was delicious. Probably more traditional than the one at Fat Mao? Anyway, the broth was flavorful and had the requisite fishy/shrimpiness that I expect from laksa. Wish it was a bit creamier. Also had roti, which was standard and good.
Convenient location. Free parking. Average quality.
Hainanese chicken is great.
Service is well... for a sit down restaurant it feels like cafeteria style. Food comes slow and part of my order was forgotten, such that people that sat down after me got parts of their order first. Servers a bit rude as in "What do you want" attitude. too bad as the food is ok. Curry Beef brisket at $22 is a bowl of potatoes so be warned.
Rude customer service and expensive food
Orett good food. The roti needs work. The chicken was quite good. A tad overpriced.
came here around 430pm restaurant was empty. ordered the famous hainanese chicken with rice. it was ok. first bite wasn't that tender. but the rest of the children was ok. portion is on the small side. while at the restaurant, lots people came in a order to go.
Very good food and authentic.
So.... As everyone has mentioned, the service is sub par. Will wait at least 30 minutes to get chicken. Order of veggies was also forgotten until reminded, and the curry beef should be renamed curry potato... And for 20 bucks?!Don't know if I would could back....
Average taste with extremely small potion, and overpriced too. Not recommended.
Good Singapore style chicken!
The best Hainan chicken in Vancouver.
My favourite place to get hainanese chicken. The rice is SOO good too (when it's fresh.)Chicken and beef skewers are good here too. I love them. But beware: they take awhile to come out, so order them first. At least you know they're fresh though. But hey, if you're someone who loves good service and polite waiters, I recommend ordering out.Service isn't great here.
horrible service as everyone else complained
The boneless Hainan chicken and rice was probably the best I've had. The texture of the chicken was silky smooth and firm but definitely not stiff. The flavour was just right with or without either dipping sauces. The texture of the chicken rice was soft and fluffy with a little bit of a chew; imagine al dente rice. Nothing was over or under flavoured for us. We will definitely be returning!
Food are delisous in fare prices.
Rated the best Singaporean chicken rice in Vancouver.. Good dinner for us!
Great Hainan Chicken! Always so good... I often go there for that! The service is great and their staff are able to communicate in various languages. So convenient.
Chicken is almost the best in town. Other dishes are good but not the best. BUT 1. Up to %15 of your chicken is usually missing! (Just out of curiosity, and for fun, we usually "reassemble our chicken" to see which parts are "missing when it was alive." LOL.) 2. When we doggy bag our food for a family member the "plus size waitress" told us to combine our "USED INDIVIDUAL" dipping sauce for him so she does not need to get a fresh serving. (Yikes!!! What else is acceptable for them to do back there?!!) 3. Service from both the older lady (owner - I think) and from the "plus size waitress" are down right abrasive! The other younger girls are 1st class though!
Just ate dinner here. Food is very tasty and service is nice. I really liked the bbq satay and the Roti Prata bread with the curry dipping sauce was also really good. The sweet and sour pork on rice is good too. Service is very nice. Only downside is that the place is small.
Always loved their chicken with rice. Tried the new menu item today (note: there were 8 pc of tofu) and the tofu was very nicely deep fried with soft centre. Wish it would have less MSG though. Hainanese Chicken has also gotten smaller portion, making it a slightly pricy dish now, but overall still very tasty!
Inconsistent. We were left waiting 45 mins for food. Laksa soup noodles came luke warm. Chicken is okay priced only if you get the whole chicken. Quite overpriced otherwise.
Service was alright chicken wings where the same old but the noodles were filled with some spices and pretty much all of the menu was spicy food and it was overpriced like $8 for 4 pieces of chicken wings that wasn’t even big or medium it was small and the noodle soups were slightly near $30 and worst thing was the server who served our food kept looking at my phone seeing if I would write a review on their restaurant but I was writing a different one from yesterday. not recommending this place again
Had chicken rice, curry beef, satay, and roti. All items were good. Chicken was well cooked. Prices are a bit on the higher side but quality is there so you get what you pay for. Portions can be a bigger.
They cut their cole slaw with uncooked ramen
Ordered Hainan chicken, wings, beans. The chicken was okay. The wings were a rip off, ~ $9 for 4 winglets. The beans for ~$15 were tasteless and soft. These beans when fresh should be crispy. I don't mind paying the high prices, but I expected a decent portion size. Not to mention, it was hot inside with 28°c heat outside. Just had fans running without ac.Overall, high price for small portions, and no proper hvac. Not recommended.
I accidentally ended up here as I was headed for pho next door. Decided that I really should give this place a try. It’s never as busy and offers many things I typically enjoy. But, I was somewhat disappointed. Food was OK. Service friendly. Prices high given the moderate quality of food.
Service so-so. Food so-so as well.
good chicken rice but not cheap
We ordered take out here and much to our surprise some of the items are so overpriced! 4 chicken wing (just wingette) for $8.25! Two limp and sad roti for $7. The migoreng and beef brisket curry was decent but nothing to rave about. I’m still shocked about the chicken wings.
If I could give 0 stars I would. The restaurant ran out of whole chickens and only offered us the half chicken order. For some bizarre reason the half order was missing the chicken wing, yet no discount was offered. The staff are extremely rude and unprofessional, clearly not fit to run a restaurant. Save yourself the trouble...head down Cambie St and go visit Tropika instead
Authentic Malaysian food. The Hainan chicken is the best.
Good place for chicken, may try to order a whole chicken instead of half.
Disappointing!! Food was average, portions were small and overpriced. *Note prices are significantly higher than some menus posted online* Eg. items that were $8.95 are now $14.50. Better food elsewhere, definitely not worth the price here.
Lots of hype about the Hainan chicken and satay skewers but really they're not that outstanding. Been coming here for years but lately their service is just downright bad and given so many struggling restaurants around town, I'm taking my business elsewhere, especially given their prices. Small portions for three and it cost me $80 tonight!
Food was average and service was terrible. Server said she was too busy to bring us more tea & She didnt even say a word to me throughout the payment process @ the counter! WOW....
Enjoyed the meal tremendously! Greens, beef curry, and their famous hainan boneless chicken. The beans few slightly spicy, and seasoned nicely, slight spicy, the curry and chicken few excellent! My only criticism was the fragrant rice was slightly weak, I think it could have been more flavourful. I would definitely come back
Fast and friendly customer service. Food is excellent. Worth checking are Curry beef on rice, seafood Laksa and authentic boneless Hainanese chicken. Lots of parking space on strip mall.
Tasty Singaporean Laksa. Generous size.
